From the start of May 2011, the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications (ARCE) has started an audit of the quality of service and technical verification of GSM operators in Burkina Faso. It has deployed technical teams nationally to carry out its testing and measurement program.
ARCE has secured the services of a consultant with what it describes as ‘recognised expertise’ in the field of monitoring and evaluation of networks and telecom services. The team has also collected perceptions of service quality by customers.
In the event that the desired standards are not being achieved, ARCE has the power to place sanctions on the operators concerned.
